Accepting God’s Design Meeting

{Be sure to read the end: there is an important announcement about dates.}

The last meeting, as usual, was a great blessing. I love being with this group of girls. 🙂

This week we did a few things differently from our normal meetings… we sang outside (we didn’t get any pictures of that though), and Hannah did the message.

First she talked about knowing that God has a plan and a design for your life–and then about accepting it and even being grateful for the hard things. She talked about accepting God’s design in four areas of our life: 1. Our appearance 2. Our personality 3. Our abilities/gifts 4. Our circumstances. We took some time to write down things we struggled with in each area, and then on the other side of the page we wrote things we could be thankful for in each area. We then had a time for prayer… to ask God to help us to accept His plan, and to thank Him for it. We read from Psalm 139, which talks about God forming us.

We read from 1 Corinthians 12, which talks about how the body of Christ is made up of many different parts, and each one is necessary. We shouldn’t always be wanting someone else’s gift, but rather be content and serve faithfully where God has placed us. (This doesn’t mean, however, that we are excused from helping with things that are “not our gift”. We all need to work together and do what needs to be done. It just means that we should focus on what we have, not on wanting what others have.)

Hannah told the story of Nick Vuijicic… you can watch the videos below to see him and hear him talk. 🙂

We had a few different activities… during the message, Hannah had each one of us draw a flower. They were all very different even though we all had the same time, materials, and instructions. She explained how that was a good thing, and how God makes each one of us differently too.

Afterwards, we did an activity where you fold a paper in thirds and draw part of a person/creature. One person draws the head, the next the torso, and the last the bottom part.

It turns out quite funny most of the time… there was lots of laughter. 😀

Here’s one of the creatures…

And here’s Sydney holding another one. 🙂

Tea time was a little different too–we used real tea cups for the first time in quite a while!

We also lit the candles this time. 🙂

Everyone enjoyed the chocolate chip cookies made by the Burgess ladies! Thank you so much for making them. 🙂

Shelby, Courtney and Zoey. 🙂 It’s exciting to see new friendships developing and old ones being strengthened.

Make sure you read your lesson for this meeting and talk about it with your parent(s)! 🙂

Thank you to Brianne for taking pictures! 🙂

Because my family will be just getting back from camping the day before the next meeting is scheduled, (plus it’s veteran’s day that Monday, and we have a very busy week), Bright Lights will be POSTPONED to NOVEMBER 18th (instead of the 11th).

This next meeting on the 18th will complete set one and be the LAST MEETING of 2013. (We will, Lord willing, start up again on January 13th, 2014.)

Looking forward to seeing you all on the 18th of November!
