This past year of Bright Lights has been wonderful! I’m so thankful for each one of you and how God has blessed our group. 🙂 Here are some of the highlights for me from 2015. What were some of your favorite moments? I would really love to hear from you!
So lets get started:
~Celebrating Carissa’s wedding! And getting to sing together at the reception. It was such a beautiful time, and though we miss Carissa we are so happy for both of them.
~We learned about what the gospel really is and how Mercy and Justice meet at the cross. Do you remember that drawing? Also one week in our small groups we used objects to show different aspects of the gospel. I think you all did an amazing job with it!
The 1st group illustrated with paper that even if we compare ourselves to other people, we might look good, but once we see Gods Holiness we realize that we are sinners, and only Christ’s blood can wash us clean.
The 2nd group showed us how sin is like poison (they used Salad dressing), and how even one drop will ruin the whole cup of clean water which is like our good works. Therefore no matter how good we might think we are, even if we have only sinned once we are guilty before God.
Sorry I don’t have a picture of the 3rd group. It was Cheryl, Zoe, Jacy, Sydney, Chloe, Jessica and Lucabela. They used the illustration of a gift and Sydney shared how God has given us the greatest gift ever in His Son.
~We learned some Spanish songs which was lots of fun! (Or at least I enjoyed it, haha) “He decidio seguir a Cristo” “Rey de Reys y Señor de Senores” “El gozo del Señor me fortaleza es” “Yo tengo gozo, gozo, gozo.” Who wants to learn more this year?
~We studied some of the Fruits of the Spirit and how to reflect Christ in our responses. The topics included Contentment, Humility, Sensitivity, Meekness, Self-Control, Joy and more. Which one stood out to you and why?
In our meeting on Joy during activity time we danced the Virginia Reel and wrote out what we were thankful for. 🙂
~And finally some of us had the opportunity to lead worship at our church one Sunday in November. It took a lot of practice and hard work, but we did it! Good job girls! 🙂
I’m looking forward to seeing what God will do in this New Year!
We will not be meeting on the 11th because we have too much going on that weekend. One of the things that is happening then is Emily and I (and a few friends) will be sharing about our Mission Trip to Central America a few weeks ago!! You all are invited to come! Its Sunday the 10th at our Church (Grace Bible 403 Rockcroft St. Port Charlotte, FL 33954) Our church service starts at 9:30, and our presentation will start at about 11:00-11:15.
Our first meeting will be on January 25th the 4th Monday. 6:00-8:30
We are going to talk about goals for this New Year, personal as well for our Bright Lights group. So be thinking about what you would like to do and learn this year! And be prepared to share your ideas. A few of you have shared some topics, and activity ideas already and I’m looking forward to hearing more!
