After teaching on Fear and Anxiety, Emily and I liked the idea of memorizing more verses (you can never memorize too much of the Bible!), so the verses we think you should pick from and memorize at least one of are:
Philippians 4:6-7 – Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Isaiah 26:3 – You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.
1 Timothy 1:12b – Yet I am not ashamed, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him for that day.
But you could totally do any other verse that strengthens you when you feel anxious or afraid. 🙂
When Cheryl and Zoe taught on having a gentle and quiet spirit, they challenged us to…
- Pray and ask God for a gentle and quiet spirit.
- Evaluate at least one conversation you have this week in light of having a gentle and quiet spirit on paper or in your head.
- Memorize either Ephesians 4:2-3; Philippians 2:3-4; or 2 Timothy 2:22
