Girls gathering in preparation for singing…

“. . .I’ve got the joy, joy, joy/Down in my heart. ‘Where?’ Down in my heart to stay. . .”

IMG_8343

After singing, we prayed and then I began the message. I started by telling a story about a category 5 hurricane that was supposed to hit Florida several years ago…I thought we should evacuate, but my dad said we were going to say–and I thought we were going to die. But it didn’t hit us after all, and I remember realizing that God gives parents wisdom. Unfortunately I haven’t always remembered that lesson…

IMG_8350

I talked about God’s design for the family–a father leading with a godly vision, a mother helping him, and children obeying them and also helping to make the vision a reality.

IMG_8356

We did more sword drills… this time we looked up verses about when Jesus was on earth. John 8:28 talks about how He submitted to God as His heavenly father, and Luke 2:41-52 is about Jesus submitting to and obeying His earthly parents.

IMG_8359

Open Bibles are a good thing!

We talked about the differences between honor and obedience, about the importance of inward submission, and many other things.

IMG_8501

Then we made a list of ways we can have a close relationship with our parents.

IMG_8387

Emily gave a testimony about how she is learning to have a closer relationship with her parents, particularly her mom.

IMG_8389

Hannah talked about her relationship with both her parents, including what is going well and what she is learning.

Next was activity time! We made cards…

Then it was snack time!

This was Abagail’s first time attending! We’ve known her since she was a baby… she was just a toddler when we started Bright Lights. 🙂

Some of the girls played games afterward.

The envelopes ready to send… I mailed them this morning.  One of my favorite things about the activity part of Bright Light is watching the girls follow my instructions–in such different ways. They are so creative!!! 😀

Even the backs were different!

Thank you very much to the Harpers for bringing snack and Courtney for taking pictures! Thank you also to everyone who helped clean up–that is a blessing!

See you at the next meeting on Monday, September 9th! 🙂

Oh thank you!!! We will all appreciate that.
The Fingersons are flying down, but Carrie and I are driving with Dad to Florida, so we need all the prayer we can get. 🙂
